Belleview Supported Living Accomodation

Belleview provides 24 hour staffed supported living services for 15 adults with social problems during a period of recovery or recovering from mental ill health, and in need of supervision and emotional support, before returning to full independent living.

  • DESCRIPTION

Belleview is a 3-storey Victorian building comprising of 15 rooms with en-suite facilities. Each room is furnished in a modern style with a TV set. Additionally there is a communal lounge /dining room, games room, relaxation room with sauna and hairdressing facilities and laundry. At the rear, is a garden with patio area, lawn and flowerbeds. There is also car parking facilities in the forecourt of the building for /tenants service users, staff and visitors.

Belleview is situated on the main Brigstock Road, Thornton Heath, a short distance from the centre of Thornton Heath, Croydon and within easy access to most amenities and the local general hospital. It is within walking distance of Thornton Heath bus and train station.

  • LOCAL AMENITIES

Facilities available within a short walk of the Belleview include banks, post office, restaurants, cafes, supermarkets and a large variety of shops and the Thornton Heath Leisure Centre and Thornton Heath Rail Station.

  • ACCOMODATION

Belleview is furnished in a very comfortable and homely style. There are 15 single bedrooms, all of which have full en-suite facilities. All bedrooms are large, spacious, and newly decorated with nice views. Central heating and constant hot water.

  • Payphone for tenants’ use. Colour T.V. in all rooms.
  • Provision of furniture, bed linen, towels and furnishing.
  • Daily cleaning of areas of communal use.
  • Use of laundry facilities and Use of fully equipped kitchens.
  • Use of lounge, games room activity and relaxation room with sauna
  • Provision of bed linen and towels
  • Beddings, detergents & cleaning equipment
  • Fridge in all rooms
  • Maintenance of garden and communal areas
  • Refuse collection
  • Fire & smoke alarm system (provision & maintenance)
  • Repairs & maintenance of premises
  • Rent is inclusive of use of gas & electricity, water rates, council Tax,
  • TV licence in communal areas, insurance to include tenant personal effects up to £1500 per room.

  • MEALS

For those who may require Belleview will offer one meal a day

  • Support for shopping
  • Liaison with agencies involved in service user’s welfare

  • Help establishing social contacts and activities
  • Supervision and monitoring of well-being and health
  • Chatting, socialising, arranging social events in the Belleview
  • Attending review meeting and recording matters of importance
  • GENERAL FACILITIES

For making and receiving external calls, service users may also use the payphone located in the basement. There are a variety of facilities that are available to the Tenants; these include kitchens, garden, patio area, a games room, relaxation room (including a hairdresser) and a supervised exercise room with Sauna which is available on request and under supervision.

 

  • VISITING

Visitors are welcome to visit service users at the house, but they must remain in the communal areas and must leave the house no later than 10pm.Visitors is not allowed to stay overnight. You are more than welcome to invite friends and family to eat with you. However you will need to give us at least two days notice so that the cooks can prepare for this. There will be a small charge for this service.

  • MEDICAL CARE

Belleview falls under the Croydon Health Authority. There are a number of General Practitioners a few minutes walk from the Belleview and service users can register with a GP of their choice. Tenants will be expected to self medicate. Lockable cabinets are provided in all rooms for the safe keeping of medication. First Aid kits are kept in the Manager’s office and in the kitchen’s area.

  • VISITING

Visitors to the Belleview will be welcomed between 10:00 am –10pm. After these hours staff must be notified of the presence of the visitor on the premises. All visitors must sign the visitor’s book.

  • EQUALITY AND DIVERSITY

The Management will ensure that both service users and staff are not discriminated against on grounds of Sex, Race, Colour, Creed, Religion and Disability.

  • Service User’s Property

Service users are requested to keep personal property such as money and other valuables in their bedrooms and to keep it locked when they are out. Lockable metal cash boxes are available if required. The Belleview can only accept responsibility for property handed in to staff for safekeeping and properly documented at the time of handover.

  • SMOKING & FIRE PRECAUTION

The Belleview has a fire alarm system approved by the Environment mental Health and it is in operation 24-hours a day. The highly sensitive smoke detectors may be triggered off by cigarette smoking. It is desirable, therefore, for service users to smoke in the designated areas and refrain from smoking in the bedrooms.

  • INSURANCE

The Belleview is insured with Ecclesiastical Insurance.

  • ADMINISTRATION

As part of the service provided by the Belleview, the Belleview’s Manager will assist service users with claims for statutory benefits and advise and liaise with Social Services and Department of Work and Pension. This assistance will be extended to claims relating to changes in benefits, claims for grants, and general correspondence.

  • REFERRAL PROCEDURE

Social Workers or others professionals referring service users are requested to contact the Manager who will arrange a meeting to view the Belleview and discuss service user’s requirements. Subject to the service users accepting the accommodation and the Manager being satisfied that all relevant criteria have been met, a tenancy start date will be set.

Service users will reside at Belleview under the terms of assured short hold tenancy agreement. The Belleview service is limited to providing short-term support for vulnerable people who are able to live semi-independently.

  • FEES

Fees are calculated according to the individual service user’s needs. For non-private service users funding is met by the referring Social Services Department & Local Housing Authority.
