About This Home

Residents at No. 22 are encouraged to engage in external activities, with staff facilitating referrals to local community centres, libraries, or voluntary roles in charity shops to support reintegration after hospital stays. Each resident has a single bedroom and shares facilities like the lounge and kitchen. The rehabilitation programme encourages room cleaning, meal preparation (with supervision), and personal care tasks like hygiene, dressing, and bathing, supported by a key worker system. Residents enjoy breakfast, lunch, tea, and supper with a choice of three culturally sensitive menus tailored to Afro-Caribbean and Jewish traditions. Laundry facilities include an industrial washing machine and tumble dryer in the basement, used with staff supervision. There is no time limit on stay, and residents are supported to transition to more independent accommodation when ready. In acute crises, hospital admission may be arranged. Visitors are welcome in communal areas until 10:00 p.m., with no overnight stays, and residents can invite family to meals with two days’ notice for a small fee. Pets are not allowed for health and safety reasons. Smoking is prohibited indoors per government legislation, but a designated outdoor smoking area is provided. Residents can organize their own outings, and the home arranges annual group outings, such as an 'Away Weekend' or seaside day trip.

STATEMENT ON ACTIVITIES

Person-Centred Mental Health Activities

At our homes, each week is shaped around meaningful and engaging activities tailored to each Service User’s individual interests, abilities, and mental health needs.

🗓️ Weekly Staff Consultation:

Staff meet weekly with Service Users to co-create a flexible and person-centred programme. There is no fixed Monday–Sunday timetable—activities change weekly and are adapted daily to reflect mood, energy, motivation, and wellbeing. • • 🙂 Improved mood
  • • 💪 Increased confidence
  • • 🧠 Better emotional regulation
  • • 🤝 Reduced isolation

All feedback and observations are recorded and used to review and tailor care plans, ensuring activities remain meaningful and effective.

Activities are creative, therapeutic, and adapted daily to meet individual needs. Examples include:

Menu Statement SA and No 22

Our menu is multicultural and carefully designed to reflect the diverse backgrounds, cultures, and personal preferences of the people living in our homes. We hold weekly consultations with service users to review and adapt the menu, ensuring it remains inclusive, responsive, and truly person-centred. Wherever possible, requested meals are prepared, demonstrating our commitment to choice, dignity, and individual preference.

Seasonal menus are developed for both summer and winter, using fresh, seasonal ingredients and shaped further through consultation with service users. We are fully committed to meeting individual dietary needs, including vegetarian, diabetic, cultural, and medically advised diets, ensuring all meals are balanced, nutritious, and compliant with CQC guidance on nutrition and hydration.

The menu provides a wide variety of options designed to meet individual tastes and preferences, supporting both health and enjoyment at mealtimes.

We also regularly organise communal cooking sessions where service users and staff prepare meals together in the shared kitchen. These sessions are social and therapeutic in nature, often accompanied by music and shared dining experiences. On occasion, other homes are invited to join, encouraging social connection, inclusion, and a sense of community in a warm and welcoming environment.

The home is equipped with appliances that support independence and enjoyment in cooking, including a bread maker used for baking bread, cakes, yoghurt, and jam, as well as an ice cream maker and coffee machine. These facilities allow service users to enjoy engaging cooking and baking experiences in a relaxed and social setting. Some service users also choose to order takeaway meals at times, reflecting their right to choice and independence.

These arrangements promote independence, choice, and active participation in line with CQC expectations for safe, supportive, and person-centred care environments.
